I want to share my journey from studying in VCC’s NTAS program to landing a full-time role in the IT industry. It’s been a challenging yet rewarding experience that has shaped my career and life in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
When I started the NTAS program during the Winter term, I knew balancing studies and securing a job in Canada wouldn’t be easy. But I was determined to make it work. Before Term 2 even began, I landed a part-time job as an IT Specialist. It was a pivotal achievement, but it came at a time of great personal responsibility—my daughter was born shortly afterward. Balancing coursework, fatherhood, and work required immense effort, but the results were worth it.
The NTAS program provided exceptional, hands-on learning experiences that prepared me for real-world challenges. The instructors, all seasoned IT professionals, brought industry knowledge and practical expertise to every lesson. I owe special thanks to Program Assistant Claudia, whose support even before I arrived in Canada made a huge difference. The leadership of Program Coordinator Shu-Ann has made the NTAS program even more impactful.
By the time I finished the program, I had advanced my skills and gained the confidence to seek new career opportunities. After receiving two interview offers, I sought advice from my instructor, Jason. His mentorship helped me make the right choice and excel in my interviews. I’m thrilled to share that I secured a Senior IT Field Technician position—a role perfectly aligned with my career goals.
Looking back, the NTAS program didn’t just equip me with skills; it gave me the tools to succeed, the confidence to grow, and a supportive community that believed in my potential.
