Tuesday, Sept. 3
Music faculty concert (Broadway, building A auditorium)
Kick of your first day of school with a blast! In this free campus event, move to the grooves of our talented VCC Music faculty performing at their annual recital in the Broadway, building A auditorium next to the library (level 2).
Saturday, Sept. 7
(565 Great Northern Way, by Emily Carr University)
In this community festival, enjoy live music performances, food trucks, entertainment, and crafts by artisan vendors while celebrating the businesses in the neighbourhood. The event is running in its second annual year by Low Tide Properties. Check out what makes the South Flats a vibrant district for the up and coming tech, arts and creative minds. The event is free to attend.
Friday, Sept. 6-8

If you're an enthusiast for all things electric at home and in vehicles, this show may pique your interest. Hear the latest trends from industry experts and how to transition to electrification. Be sure to stop by the VCC booth, where our Transportation Trades instructors will demo our fleet of electric cars and answer any questions related to repairing and caring for your electric vehicle.
Monday, Sept. 9-12
Welcome Week (both Broadway and Downtown campuses)
Learn all you need to know about starting your school term right: get free agendas and swag from your student union (SUVCC), meet our to help with your homework, our counsellors if you need to chat about personal matters, Indigenous services, and more at this orientation week spread out between our Broadway (Sept. 9 and 10) and Downtown campuses (Sept. 11 and 12).
Sunday, Sept. 15
(Main Street)
This free, annual street party transforms busy streets into lively public spaces for a day, featuring artists, performers, local businesses and communities. Get out and celebrate the diversity, creativity and sustainability of our entrepreneurs. Feel free to connect with a VCC staff member at our booth in the charming neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant on Main Street, where we'll have resources and swag to share.

Residential School Survivor Stewart Gonzales from the Orange Shirt Society will share impactful stories from his lived experiences in the days leading up to Orange Shirt Day.

Cultural safety and humility workshop (Broadway campus event space)
Join Emily Henry for a session on practicing cultural safety and humility as we honour the days leading up to Orange Shirt Day.
Monday, Sept. 23
Flag raising ceremony and moment of reflection (Broadway campus main entrance)
In the days leading up to Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, VCC's Indigenous Education and Community Engagement department will host a flag raising ceremony and moment of reflection to help enhance our understanding and awareness of the history of residential schools, the Indian Act, and the origin of Orange Shirt Day.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (campus closed)
While both Broadway and Downtown campuses will be closed on this commemorative day, we encourage you to take the time to learn about the truth, the history and impacts of the residential school system and to honour the lives lost during this time.
